Policy

LIPIEMCO Policy on Gender and Development (GAD) will adopt mainstreaming in ensuing gender equality in all its business aspects to achieve the vision of a gender-responsive cooperative where women and men equally contribute to and benefit from Cooperative development. including macroeconomic work, and lending and technical assistance (TA) operations. The key elements of LIPIEMCO GAD policy will include gender sensitivity, gender analysis, gender planning, mainstreaming, and agenda setting.
focus of activities will be to

  • Aid its member in the areas of policy support, capacity building, GAD awareness, and formulation and implementation of policies and programs directed at improving gender equality of men and women.
  • facilitate gender analysis of proposed projects, including program and sector loans, and ensure that gender issues are considered at all the appropriate stages of the business, including identification, preparation, appraisal, implementation, and evaluation.
  • promote and increase GAD awareness within LIPIEMCO through training workshops and seminars, development of suitable approaches, and staff guidelines to implement the policy on GAD and Gender Equality.
  • explore opportunities to directly address some of the new and emerging issues for men and women

Roles and responsibility

1. GAD Committee 

  • Conducts Gender Analysis
  • Develop and recommend GAD and GE policies/programs/projects/activities to the LIPIEMCO Board.
  • Monitors and assesses progress in the implementation of GAD programs/projects/activities towards achieving GE
  • Submits report to the Board.
  • Provide directional guidance

2. GAD Focal Person

  • Coordinates and review implementation of GAD programs/projects/activities based on approved plans and budget.
  • Prepares performance report and recommends policy improvement to the GAD committee.
  • Gather and analyze gender-related information and other data.
  • Provides administrative services to GAD committee.
